Daniel Kloss is the Founder and President of The Kloss Group, a boutique consultancy providing Owner’s Project Representation and capital project leadership for hotel and resort renovations across the United States. With more than 30 years of experience spanning hospitality operations, construction delivery, and capital project management, Daniel helps hotel owners, investors, and asset managers successfully plan and deliver complex renovations and repositionings while protecting schedule, budget, and long-term asset value.
Daniel’s hospitality foundation was shaped within the Five-Star / Five-Diamond environment of The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, where he developed a deep understanding of luxury service standards, operational sensitivity, and the importance of aligning guest experience with operational excellence. This early operational experience continues to influence his approach to project leadership, ensuring that design, construction, and procurement decisions support the realities of hotel operations.
Prior to founding The Kloss Group, Daniel managed the Western Region Architecture & Construction team for Interstate Hotels & Resorts, overseeing capital improvements, renovations, and development projects across a diverse portfolio of hospitality assets. In this role, he coordinated closely with ownership groups, operators, architects, contractors, and brand representatives to guide projects from early planning through execution.
Throughout his career, Daniel has led renovations and capital improvement initiatives across a wide spectrum of hospitality assets including luxury resorts, full-service hotels, boutique and urban properties, and select-service hotels. His experience spans projects with major hospitality brands including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Wyndham, and independent luxury properties.
Daniel is particularly known for his ability to guide complex renovations within live operating hotel environments, where construction activities must be carefully coordinated with ongoing operations and guest expectations. His leadership style emphasizes proactive planning, clear communication, disciplined cost control, and strong alignment between ownership, operators, design teams, contractors, and procurement partners.
Through The Kloss Group, Daniel provides independent owner-side representation, helping clients navigate the full lifecycle of capital projects—from early planning and budgeting through procurement, construction sequencing, and final project delivery. His role is to bring structure, transparency, and accountability to complex hospitality projects while ensuring that renovations strengthen both the performance and long-term value of the asset.
Over the course of his career, Daniel has contributed to projects at notable hospitality properties including The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, The Langham Pasadena, St. Regis Princeville in Kauai, The Muse Hotel in New York, and Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, among many others across the United States.
